A slam dunk for mobile payments as PM Connect launches NBA content portal

Harriet Emerson

PM Connect can reveal that it has licensed, developed and launched its very own online portal featuring digital content from one of the biggest brands in world sport, the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Having launched in Q4 2018, PM Connect’s new mobile payment solution will be instrumental in support of complementing the sporting giants’ 43 million monthly digital users, giving casual fans a new way to pay for more of the content they love.

The new and improved subscription portals will provide casual fans with pre and post-match video highlights and commentary. There will also be new features like a Save to Homescreen button and push notifications – allowing the subscribers to incorporate their favourite sport into their everyday mobile browsing experience.

The NBA digital content will be specially optimised and formulated to cater for a wider range of fans – in seamless complement of the NBA’s other premium content partners and its own websites, Apps and over-the-top (OTT) “NBA League Pass” service.

Christopher Purdie, commercial director at PM Connect, said:

“This partnership couldn’t come at a better time, with basketball being the fastest growing sport amongst millennials. PM Connect is in prime position to support engaging a wider range of fans, with our mobile payment technology allowing customers to purchase the specially curated content in just a few clicks.”

“Our tech will be rolled out across three of the NBA’s key markets outside of North America – the UK, Portugal and Poland – but we see huge potential for the service to be additionally rolled out to other key territories around the globe.”
